On December 10, the "Clean Session" campaign launched in the conference hall with a live broadcast on the Zoom platform.
The event was attended by N.A. Zhetpisbaev, Vice-Rector for Social and Cultural Development; M.M. Umurkulova, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs; V.I. Oleynik, Head of the Anti-Corruption Compliance Service; O.A. Tyan, Head of the Office Registrar; and representatives of the Student Parliament.
M.M. Umurkulova, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, delivered a welcoming speech. She noted that the principles of academic integrity must be observed by all participants in the educational process throughout the entire period of study. To effectively organize this work, a headquarters was established by order of the Chairman of the Management Board-Rector dated December 5, 2024, to monitor compliance with the principles of academic integrity during exam periods and take preventative measures to prevent them.
In turn, N.A. Zhetpisbaev stated that "Clean Session" is an annually held traditional project based on the concept of "Honest Citizen." Various events are organized within its framework to instill in young people the principles of Abai's "full-fledged person," cultivating purity, integrity, and moral values. The "Honest Session" project, which demonstrates tangible results year after year, instills in students a desire to be honest not only during exam periods but also in everyday life.
V.I. Oleynik highlighted a number of departmental regulations and spoke about the rules of academic integrity, compliance with which is mandatory for all participants in the educational process. He also noted that at Karaganda University named after Academician Buketov University conducts ongoing analytical and monitoring work to adopt systemic measures aimed at actively fostering an anti-corruption culture, including developing its own programs and regulations in this area.
The university has updated its hotline, and blogs are maintained by the Chairman of the Board-Rector, the Vice-Rectors, and the Head of the Anti-Corruption Compliance Service to prevent, identify, and mitigate corruption risks, violations of anti-corruption legislation, eliminate conflicts of interest, and maintain honest communication with students and university staff.
The now-traditional "Clean Session" campaign contributes to the development of anti-corruption awareness among students and young people. It is held between academic sessions to foster legal awareness and active civic engagement among faculty and students, and to promote zero tolerance for violations of anti-corruption laws. It is carried out with the support of the university administration, student government bodies, trade union committee, and others."I urge undergraduates, master's students, and doctoral students to actively participate in preventing corruption at the university and intolerance of this social evil, as well as to monitor the implementation of the 'Clean Session' campaign and seek justice within their rights to a quality education," says V.I. Oleynik.
"The session is a very stressful time for all participants in the educational process, so we wish our students and faculty good luck in the upcoming session, honest victories, and pride in their achievements. We are always ready to support our students on this journey. And remember, a clean session is your safety, your reputation, and your success," concluded O.A. Tyan.
