GUEST LECTURE

As part of the work of the Karaganda University named after E.A. Buketov to attract leading foreign researchers, from February 10 to 28, 2025, the Faculty of Chemistry will host guest lectures by Alexander Sergeevich Novikov, Ph.D. (Chem.), associate professor, "Computational Chemistry" group leaderat the Infochemistry Scientific Center, ITMO University (St. Petersburg, Russia). Alexander Sergeevich Novikov is a specialist in fields of computer modeling and machine learning in chemistry, has more than 380 scientific publications in top journals of Web of Science and Scopus (including Nature Communications, JACS, AngewandteChemie) and over 7500 citations according to Google Scholar (Hirsch index = 47 according to Web of Science and Hirsch index = 48 according to Scopus). Alexander Sergeevich Novikov's classes on the course "Quantum-chemical calculations: reactivity, catalysis, non-covalent interactions" will be held online and offline, including such topics as: the use of quantum-chemical calculations to study the mechanisms of chemical reactions, their kinetics and thermodynamics; the study of non-covalent interactions in chemical compounds and their supramolecular associates; conducting an analysis of Hirschfeld surfaces based on the crystal structures of chemical compounds; modeling the spectral characteristics of chemical compounds. In general, guest lectures by Alexander SergeevichNovikov will provide an excellent opportunity for students and researchers of the Karaganda University named after E.A. Buketov to deepen their knowledge in the field of computational chemistry, learn about the latest achievements in this field, and become an important stage in the development of the scientific and educational potential of the University.
