By decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Karagandy University named after E. A. Buketov has officially received the status of a national university.Throughout its history, Buketov University has consistently ranked among the top multidisciplinary universities in Kazakhstan. Since 2015, it has been listed in the QS World University Rankings and QS Asia. In the international Webometrics ranking, the university is among the top ten out of 127 Kazakhstani universities.Now known as the Karagandy National Research University named after Academician E. A. Buketov, it becomes the 18th national university in the country. This new status will help expand academic and research autonomy, attract more resources and top scholars, and strengthen its position in the global education space. It also opens up new opportunities for launching innovative programs, conducting advanced research, and training competitive professionals.Receiving national status is a well-deserved recognition of the university’s long-standing efforts to improve education and science. At the same time, it’s a big responsibility that calls for continued work to boost international competitiveness and contribute meaningfully to Kazakhstan’s development.
