A conference entitled "Kazbek Sopyzhanovich Ashlyaev - a prominent statesman, sports figure, and public figure in Kazakhstan" was held at KarNIU named after Academician E.A. Buketov.Kazbek Ashlyaev is an Honored Boxing Coach of the USSR, Kazakh SSR, and Kazakhstan. He was born in Karaganda.In 1962, Kazbek Ashlyaev won the Kazakh SSR Youth Boxing Championship and the USSR Youth Championship. In 1964, he won the USSR Championship among adults and the European Boxing Cup.He served as Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sports and Head of the Department of Physical Education and Sports of the Ministry of Education.The event was held with the aim of promoting patriotic education among young people, introducing them to his life's work, and popularizing his labor and spiritual legacy.According to Rector N.O. The name of Kazbek Sopyzhanovich Ashlyaev is inextricably linked with the formation and development of Kazakhstani boxing. He succeeded in transforming boxing into a school of perseverance and fortitude."The traditions of the Karaganda school of boxing continue successfully today. Many athletes bring glory to our country on the global stage. Among them are the pride of our university: Gennady Golovkin, Abylaikhan Zhusipov, Talgat Syrymbetov, and Olympic champion Serik Sapiyev.
