A brainstorming meeting was held at the E. A. Buketov KarNIU to discuss the concept and work plan for the newly created "Yeltanu" center.
As Rector N. O. Dulatbekov noted, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between Buketov University and the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan in Astana in November."The "Yeltanu" project is an ambitious, large-scale initiative of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan aimed at strengthening spiritual and cultural values, historical memory, and interethnic harmony. It is designed to foster respect for the richness of cultures that have shaped Kazakhstan's unique diversity over centuries, as well as to promote the principles of "Unity in Diversity," the rule of law, mutual trust, and national solidarity," he emphasized. Yeltanu Research Institute Director D. A. Dzhumabekov and Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology A. D. Makatova presented the Yeltanu Research Institute's work, which incorporates tools of philosophical, historical, legal, sociological, anthropological, cultural, psychological, philological, and political science interpretation.
The event featured presentations from the authors of the recently published book "The Cultural and Historical Heritage of the Korean Diaspora in Kazakhstan in Personal Stories": Project Director A. Zh. Myrzakhmetova, Research Fellow I. D. Khlebnikov, and Press Service Director S. G. Mogay. They provided detailed information about the monograph's work, including archival research and the search for survivors of the repression and their descendants. The university's faculty also addressed problematic issues and offered constructive proposals regarding the Yeltanu Center's future activities, which should integrate three areas: past, present, and future. In conclusion, N. O. Dulatbekov emphasized: "We are people of science and must study history to pass on the lessons of the past to the younger generation, which is now receiving great emphasis."
Thus, studying history helps young people understand their roots, cultural heritage, and national identity, which is an important element in developing a holistic personality and connection to community.
